Year 1

Welcome to Year One’s Class Page.
This year, the Year 1 team will be led by Mrs Holland and Miss Croucher.
If you ever have any questions or concerns, we are always here for you!

Forest School will take place on Wednesdays during the Advent term. The children need outdoor clothing and footwear suitable for all weathers, and lots of muddy fun!

Homework will be sent home on a Friday to be returned the following Wednesday. The homework in Year 1 consists of spellings, short writing tasks, maths tasks, RE focus tasks and termly topic tasks.

Please ensure that your child is read to, or reads to you, for 5 minutes every day. Reading ‘little and often’ makes a huge difference to children’s reading progress. Try not to just use the child’s books from school – library books, magazines and books they love from home are also important for instilling a love of reading.

Your child needs a bookbag for their reading books, rather than a rucksack

Keep an eye out on Marvellous Me for additional information.

Year 1 will be exploring our new RE Directory Unit, Creation and Covenant. We will be learning about God’s gift of Creation and how we can develop Stewardship by looking after His wonderful world.
