Friday 1st May

Good morning Year 5,

I have my fingers crossed for a bit of sunshine today! Hopefully we will all have chance to get onto our gardens.

Below are the tasks for Guided Reading, Maths, Science and PE that are to be completed today for your home learning. I look forward to seeing examples of your hard work.

 

PE

Well done to those of you who took part in the bouncing ball challenge. I know that some of you are planning to send in your scores later so I will post the leadership board this afternoon.   

We will be doing a different challenge next week.

 

Remember that you can access the Joe Wicks PE session on his YouTube channel. If you would like to try something different, search for Cosmic Kids on YouTube and have a go at some Yoga.

 

Maths
Go on TT Rockstars. I have set up a Battle between Year 5 Boys and Year 5 Girls. This will be available from today until Sunday. Good luck!

I can name and describe features of the planets in our solar system.

Use books and the internet to research planets in our solar system. Make a fact file describing the features of each of the planets. Ensure your fact file is colourful and includes diagrams. I look forward to seeing your fact files.

The Bouncing Ball Challenge

How many times can you bounce a ball up and down on a racket without dropping it? Can you beat me and your classmates? Set yourself a 2-minute timer and get bouncing! Send me your scores and photos of you completing the challenge (if you would like it to be posted on the school website) and I will post a leadership board at the end of the week!

For the next 3 weeks we will be looking at instructions. Please read our new model text, ‘How to make a Victoria sponge’ and see if you can find the grammatical features in the attached document.

 

RE
I have attached today’s RE task and steps to success below. We are learning all about Paul, who was originally called Saul. You learnt about him last year in the New Life topic, this will help you with today’s work.
