Topic

We are nearing the end of our topic, Firedamp and Davy Lamps. For our innovation, I would like you to prepare a museum exhibition in your home to express your learning to your family.

You have today’s and tomorrow’s lesson to prepare your exhibition.
Things to consider:

  • Decide what information you would like to include in your exhibition. Think about the things you have done for home learning as well as the learning we did in school, such as:
Jobs children had down the mines.
How and why the law changed in 1842.
    Coal mining disasters (Oaks Colliery).
    Miner’s Strike.
How the area of Ollerton changed over time.
  • How are you going to advertise your exhibition? Create a poster to let your family know when your exhibition will take place.

Enjoy your day and stay safe,
Mrs Marriott

RE

Our Word of the Week this week is Sacrifice.

Please watch the Word of the Week video for this week.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R_M0vHsm2eY

Read Mark 15: 1-15. Give reasons why you think the crowd shouted for Barabbas to be released and for Jesus to be crucified. Give reasons why Pilate listened to the crowd. How has Jesus’ sacrifice shaped our lives?

Enjoy your day and stay safe,
Mrs Marriott

Monday 30th March

Good morning!

I hope you have all adapted well to home learning, thank you for sending in all of your wonderful work! Keep an eye on our class page to see if you can spot your work. Today’s tasks are:

PE

At 9am today, Joe Wicks (The Body Coach) will be doing an online PE session on his Youtube channel. Search for his name on Youtube and follow his workout.

Maths

Go on TT Rockstars.

Following the steps to success, complete the adding fractions worksheet in your exercise book. The worksheet and steps to success will be added below today’s home learning.

English

Remind yourself of the model text we looked at last week. Plan your own innovated opening to a historical story, using the model text to help you.
Consider:

  • Who the characters are
  • Where the story is set
  • The jobs of the characters
  • The journey to the coal mine
  • The main character’s first experience of working down the mine

Remember, when innovating the story opening you are developing and changing elements of it. You could change the setting, the time of day, the characters, etc.

Science

Complete the science investigation from last week.

Reading

Go onto Bug Club and read one of your books. I look forward to seeing which book you choose to read.

Enjoy your day,
Mrs Marriott
