‘Growing in love, in the spirit of Christ, for the benefit of all’

Week 1 23.03.20

Friday 27th March

Good morning!

I hope you have all found time to go onto your garden to enjoy this beautiful weather. Today’s tasks are:

PE

At 9am today, Joe Wicks (The Body Coach) will be doing an online PE session on his Youtube channel. Search for his name on Youtube and follow his workout.

Maths

In your maths home learning packs, you will find a worksheet on adding fractions.

I have attached steps to success to help you.

English

Using rainbow grammar, practice writing sentences containing relative clauses as well as commas, dashes and brackets to show parenthesis. Next week we will be applying these skills as we write the opening to a historical story.

Science

What do the words soluble and insoluble mean?

Plan and carry out an investigation to find out about how a solid dissolves. Possible solids for you to use are jelly, sugar, coffee, etc.

Make sure you carry out a fair test. Which variable will you change? Which variable will you keep the same?

Things to include:

  • Prediction
  • Equipment
  • Method
  • Results
  • Conclusion

You have today and Monday’s lesson to complete this investigation.

Enjoy your day,
Mrs Marriott

Thursday 26th March

Good morning!

Thank you for sending in even more examples of your wonderful work. Today’s home learning tasks are:

PE

At 9am today, Joe Wicks (The Body Coach) will be doing an online PE session on his Youtube channel. Search for his name on Youtube and follow his workout.

Maths

Complete the My Maths task on adding and subtracting fractions. Remember to go on the practice section first.

When adding and subtracting fractions, the denominator of each fraction needs to be the same. You can do this by finding equivalent fractions – think back to the work we did last week.

English

Look at the attached document on commas, dashes and brackets. Look carefully at the example then copy and complete the sentences before writing some of your own.

Topic

Complete the fact sheet you started yesterday.

RE

Plan and prepare a liturgy for your family. Use the word of the week – Fasting – and the work you did on Monday to help you plan your liturgy.

If possible, please send in photos of your liturgy.

Enjoy your day,
Mrs Marriott

Wednesday 25th March

Please note that the activities do not need to be copied into children’s exercise books – they only need to complete the task.

Good morning!

I hope you are all looking after yourselves and making sure you get some fresh air! Here are today’s tasks:

PE

At 9am today, Joe Wicks (The Body Coach) will be doing an online PE session on his Youtube channel. Search for his name on Youtube and follow his workout.

Maths

Go on TT Rockstars and challenge someone else to a Rock Slam.

In your maths home learning pack you will find a worksheet on number sequences. Use your knowledge of fractions and mixed numbers to complete the sequences.

English

Using your work from yesterday, write some sentences about coal mining using brackets to show parenthesis.

Topic

As part of our Firedamp and Davy Lamps topic, I would like you to research the Davy lamp. Create a fact sheet using all of the information you find.

Things that you might want to search for:

  • Who created the Davy lamp?
  • How did they come up with the idea of the Davy lamp?
  • How long was the Davy lamp used for?
  • What was its purpose?

Enjoy your day,
Mrs Marriott
