‘Growing in love, in the spirit of Christ, for the benefit of all’

Message from the Friends of St Joseph’s group

15 October 2014

Earlier this year the Friends of St Joseph’s group was established; we are currently Parents, Parishioners of St Joseph’s Church and family members of the children in our School and Nursery. Our aim is to build relationships between the children, parents and the wider community, increasing social opportunities for all members of the school, as well as raising much needed funds for the school. We do this by organising fun events for the children and sometimes their families. Since we started we have planned and organised a school disco, a family event watching an England football game, with hot dogs and a penalty shoot out at half time and sold refreshments on sports day. The money raised from these events has been used to buy books for the new Book banding reading scheme and has also contributed towards new play equipment in both playgrounds. We also held a Macmillan coffee morning to raise money for the charity and to raise the profile of the friends of St Joseph’s group. We are currently planning events for this term and have ideas for next year and welcome anyone who would like to get involved- many hands make light work. If you are interested in helping to organise an event, have ideas you want to share or are able to help out on the day your support is very welcome. Please email Caroline ( or Paula (
