Easter break homework
I hope you all have a wonderful Easter and a well deserved break. I have listed some home work for you to complete over the break but there will be no home learning released on a daily basis.
Last week we wrote a shared version of an adventure story. I would like you to write your own adventure story using the plan to help you structure your work. I have attached the documents you will need below and an example of our shared story.
Make sure you use your beautiful handwriting as you would in class and remember your capital letters and full stops.
There is a range of activities for you to complete on MyMaths, a new activity will be released everyday for you to practice and then complete.
In addition to the MyMaths activities there is a range of fun activities on TTRockstars and NUMBOTS. These are great resources for the children to improve their quick recall of number facts.
The online resource BugClub is a great resource for everyone to use. After reading the book the children are given the opportunity to test their understanding of the text.
Of course please read as much as you can at home! I would love for you to write me a book review and to draw a picture of the front cover of the books you have read and I will create a Year 2 recommends page on the website so we can all share our books.
Phonics and Spelling
I have attached a document of year 2 spelling list, I would like you to practice these and put them in sentences.
This term in phonics will be exploring suffixes and prefixes. Over Easter I would like you to experiment with how many different suffixes and prefixes you can put on the root word to make a different work.
ship + s = ships
ship + ment = shipment
ship + ed = shipped
Our new topic this term is Towers, Tunnels and Turrets.
I would like you to research different castles, towers and tunnels in our local area. Can you create an information leaflet for one of these places?
